At Eastwood Primary School and Nursery, we are very fortunate to have an onsite Nursery, catering for up to 26 children per session. Children can join our Nursery from the term after their third birthday. We offer morning, afternoon and all day sessions, with a maximum of 15 hours allocated per child, in line with Government funding. 

 

The Nursery follows the Early Years Foundation Stage and has a progressive curriculum, where learning that takes place in our Nursery, is built upon in our Reception classes. We aim to provide every Nursery child with a smooth transition into the Reception classes, so that they are familiar with the staff and surroundings ahead of starting school. 

 

We have an indoor and outdoor classroom and extensive garden area, where children are able to develop their physical skills in a safe but stimulating environment. The children have the opportunity to learn through play in both the indoor and outdoor areas of learning during every Nursery session. We also include some short, whole class sessions where we focus on specific aspects of the children's learning such as Phonics, Maths, Reading and Understanding the World.
