Autumn 2 Spellings

Spring 1 Spellings

From January, we will be changing the way we complete our spelling tests in year 5. The children will be given 10 words, which have been selected weekly, from teacher assessment and the national curriculum and they will be put into no more than 5 sentences, along with a range of year 5 punctuation. These sentences will be tested in the same way as their usual spelling test, but the children will be awarded extra marks for using the correct punctuation. The sentences will be read to the children and spelling marks will be awarded for the 10 highlighted words. This will continue to be on a Monday. The reason we have chosen to change this is to help the children with the context of the words and to help them integrate them into writing.

Week 1 - Test Date 12th Jan 2026

I believe our school trip was a beautiful experience because we learned new things and had fun together. Although the bags had some weight, we carried their lunches happily and helped each other. The museum, which was very big, showed us many interesting objects from the past. It is important that we should listen carefully so the trip is safe and suitable for everyone.

The Trade Game- World Trade Geography Lesson

The children had great fun learning about world trade during our lesson. We looked at different size countries and how their resources affected their level of trade. The children were put in teams and had to produce different shapes for different amounts. They all had different amounts of resources and this represented the trading power of different countries.
